Today at Thor's Trees, three of our teams of highly skilled tree surgeons removed a very large dead cedar tree.

It’s unknown to us as to what caused this beautiful giant Cedar to die, although we do know the tree has been dead for over two years. Cedars generally have a high resistance to ill health and are generally pest and disease free. However, over the last few years Atlas cedars have been affected by severe shoot blight and defoliation.

Thor’s Trees expertly skilled tree surgeons, over a two day period, dismantled and lowered the long lateral limbs, being careful of our clients beloved raised bed of flowering rhododendrons surrounded by a very well kept lawn. Once finished the garden was cleared and cleaned, leaving the garden in the prestige condition it was when we entered the grounds.

As mentioned in our other blogs and posts, the best time of the year to prune coniferous trees is in the autumn and early winter. Cooler weather decreases metabolic activity yet, they have leaves all year round and continue to make food. Remember, pruning should always be done conservatively - Especially if you lack experience.
